Let’s take it back.  Back to the beginning.  Remember when you were born?  Yeah, we don’t either…but we’ve heard and seen from other newborns that their skin is typically flawless.  They need little product and can get away with hardly any maintenance.

Let’s fast forward.  In come the awkward teenage years—don’t worry—we won’t linger long.  But, this is when your skin started to need more maintenance.  Unfortunately, this was the turning point and your skin has only continued to be barraged with aging, pollution, and the environment.  Long gone are the days since its pristine entrance.

Hopefully during said teenage years your momma taught you how to take care of your skin.  If she didn’t, Modere is here for you.  Allow us to break it down:  everyone—male or female—should be doing these four routine steps day in-and day-out to make sure their skin has a fighting chance to look its best.  These crucial daily acts include:

  1. Cleansing
  2. Exfoliating
  3. Targeting
  4. Moisturizing

Cleanse both morning and night. Our pillow case is a party!  It can be home to drool, bacteria, and any remaining hair styling products (not to mention possible dragon breath).  And remember, you’re snuggling your face up against all of this…for hours.  Cleansing in the morning is needed to start fresh.  Cleansing at night is just as critical to wash away the dust, dirt, sweat, makeup and other fun your face has accumulated throughout the day.

Exfoliating is imperative. If your mother didn’t tell you this with one hand on her hip and the other finger wagging at you—allow us to do so.  Exfoliating removes dead skin cells, revealing the fresh, younger skin underneath that’s just been waiting to shine! Dead skin cells deflect light, making our complexion look duller. Exfoliate 2-3 times a week and skin can appear brighter. Men can use also use exfoliating as a great pre-shave activity to lift the hair and prep them for a close shave.

Targeting addresses individual needs. Just as you were an individual right from the get go, your skin is unique as well.  Recognize your skins weaknesses and attack them by finding laser-focused products that will help bring out the best your skin has to offer.

Moisturizing is the most important step. For example, look at what a difference moisture makes to a plum and a prune.  After cleansing, moisturize day and night as the final step to lock in moisture.  Moisturizing can help combat tired, yellow skin and fights dryness.

Unless you have something other than skin on your face and neck, you’ll want to make sure you’re employing these essential steps.  Your face is the one area of your body that is always uncovered and is what is seen most.  Take care of it!  Modere not only has great information on how to keep your face fresh, but we have incredible products that will help you do each of these things.  Check out our skin care line here for your daily and targeted needs.
